The elf ate 5/8 of the 10 muffins you had
to figure out how many were eaten, you have to multiply 5/8 by 10

5/8 * 10 = 6.25

now to figure out how many are left, subtract 6.25 from 10

10-6.25 = 3.75

3.75 muffins are left

hope this helped
