Since the 2 multiplies the whole parenthesis, you have to add n and 3, and then double the whole result.

For example, if [tex] n=6 [/tex], you first have to perform [tex] 6+3=9 [/tex], and then double the result: [tex] 2\times 9 = 18 [/tex]
