please show work so i can understand if y = - 6 when x = - 14 find x when y = - 4

x = -14, y = -6

x = ?, y = -4

We can cross multiply

-14/ -6 = ?/ -4

First, -4 x -14 = 56

Then 56/ -6 = -9.3

so if x= -14 and y= -6 then x= -9.3 when y = -4
