The carbon taken in during photosynthesis is stored as glucose. The equation for photosynthesis directly states this:
6CO2 + 6H20 —> 6O2 + C6H12O6
The glucose, or C6H12O6, consists of the carbon atoms from the absorbed carbon dioxide.
