In order to shift a function 2 units to the left, yo have to compute it at [tex]x+2[/tex] instead of [tex]x[/tex].

So, we have

[tex]f(x)=-x^2-1\mapsto f(x+2)=-(x+2)^2-1=-x^2-4x-4-1=-x^2-4x-5[/tex]
