Two numbers have a sum of 15 and one
is of the other. Find the numbers.​

Let x be the larger of the two numbers. The other number is 15 - x, so

x - (15 - x) = 3

x - 15 + x = 3

2x - 15 = 3

2n = 18

x = 9

Then subtract 9 from 15 to get your other number.
