minus 10 both sides
x^2+3x-10=0
factor, find what 2 number multiply to get -10 and add to get 3
-5 and 2
(x-5)(x+2)=0
set equal to zero

x-5=0
x=5

x+2=0
x=-2

x=-2 and 5
