5 1/3 - 3 9/18
Then, make both fractions share a common denominator
5 6/18 - 3 9/18
Then, change the first number to make it compatible to subtract
4 24/18 - 3 9/18 = 1 15/18
Simplify
1 15/18 = 1 5/6
