hello :
y = -2x² + 8x - 5 = -2(x²-4x-5)
but : x²-4x = (x²-4x +2²)-2²
                 = (x-2)² -4
y = -2 ((x-2)²-9)
y = -2 (x-2)²+18
the vertex is A(2,18)
