The process is called OXIDATIVE PHOSPHORYLATION.
Oxidative phosphorylation is the process by which a free phosphate ion is added to ADP in order to produce ATP. This process take place in the mitochondrion and is a major source of energy for anaerobic organisms. The free phosphate ion is usually transferred from NADH or FADH2.
