4 + x + 2 - 2x = 5

First, simplify to 4 - x + 2.
[tex]4 - x + 2 = 5[/tex]
Second, keep the '- x' and add 4 + 2.
[tex]6 - x = 5[/tex]
Third, subtract '6' from both sides.
[tex]-x = 5 - 6[/tex]
Fourth, subtract 5 - 6.
[tex]-x = -1[/tex]
Fifth, multiply both sides by -1.
[tex]x = 1[/tex]

Answer: x = 1
